The poem below was written by member LJ, dedicated to her fellows in the On Awakening group of meetings (OA Footsteps, 3pm EST, Mon-Sat). She wrote it while feeding Ellen, whose 65th birthday it was.
In the depths of struggle they saw my worth
To On Awakening, Love LJ
A circle of souls who gave me love on this earth
They loved me when I hated what I’d become
And showed me grace, when I couldn’t overcome
They accepted flaws and all, no masks to hide
Saw the real me, and loved, side by side
No judgement in their eyes, just understanding hearts
They loved me as I was, and played a part
