Take a Walk Down the Traditions

walk

The Twelve Steps were given to us for personal recovery, where the Twelve Traditions were given to us for group harmony.

When we recover, the Traditions come into play because we need to learn to be around others. We can’t escape them. Left in our own self-will, nothing good can come of it. We learn about the Traditions when working within our groups and intergroups. We can incorporate those Traditions when working with others in our own life, even our partner.

I am sure many have heard it said, “Steps are so I don’t commit suicide and the Traditions so I don’t commit homicide. As a compulsive overeater, my attitudes and behaviors are worked on daily. In practicing the Traditions, I in fact turn to the very Steps too, and the very Principles of them both become a part of me.

Overeaters Anonymous has a wonderful resource of videos on-line about the Traditions. You will find in this post those Tradition videos.

Each page will hold the corresponding Tradition. As we progress through the months, the corresponding Traditions will be added below so all 12 will be here.

We hope you enjoy your walk….
