They Loved Me Until I Could Love Myself

self-love

This has been such an incredible journey, finding the confidence and courage to love and accept myself. This couldn’t have been possible without the love I felt from the very first moment I stepped into Overeaters Anonymous, and the acceptance I felt. They loved me until I could love myself. In turn, I have been able to offer the same to other compulsive eaters!

This love that was offered to me, unconditionally, has helped me discover that it is in only loving myself, that I can truly recover. It also demonstrated to me how I might do this, by working the steps, using the tools of the program, and living the principles of this program.

This journey towards being “happy, joyous and free” has not been without its difficulties, even in program, but it has become a precious reward for coming back each day, and remaining committed to my abstinence, and the willingness to allow my Higher Power to guide me.
