May the 14th Be With You

With acceptance, I realize…
I am the tally of all my acts
All that I have done, all that I am
And all the potential of what I could be.
There isn’t a single incident that defines me
Yet every instance has helped develop me
Creating who I have yet to become
With greater understanding of
Who I am willing to be today.
Stepping away from who I thought I was
Into the simple vignette of this moment
A portrait that changes
Day to day, minute to minute
As I learn to accept
all these facets of myself
A new way to understand
My past, present and future
As the sum of my whole
The miracle of who I truly am, emerges.
