If you’ve ever found your way to a meeting through the website or sent a message through the Contact Us page – you’ve already met the Digital Committee in action!
This small but mighty crew of 4–6 volunteers serves our OA Foot Steps virtual intergroup, managing all things digital with the website at the heart of it all. Their main focus? Keeping information easy to find and the site running smoothly. From maintaining the recovery meetings calendar — linked from the front page, the footer, and even sidebar menus — to testing new search tools, the team is constantly improving how visitors connect with recovery meetings and resources and all are easily accessible from multiple locations.
Recently, they’ve added a “What to do If” section, serving as a FAQ. They’ve also rearranged the Intergroup menu and its related pages to make navigation more intuitive and highlight what’s most important – because who doesn’t love finding what they need in just one click?
The committee also handles everyday essentials like backups, new plugins & updates, and bug fixes, while working closely with the Meetings Committee on improvements like specific focus or specific topic-based meeting filters. It’s a high-energy environment where plenty of learning (and laughter) happens along the way.
“We make plenty of mistakes,” one member admits, “but we learn from every single one.”
No tech experience? No problem! The Digital Committee welcomes members of all skill levels and offers training and support to help everyone reach the point where they can confidently maintain the website and its content.
With so much creativity and collaboration flowing, the Digital Committee could always use more helping hands. If you’re curious, tech-friendly, or just love making things better, come join the fun — click your way into service!
