“…The only way to do meditation wrong is not to do it at all”

What happens when I don’t take time to meditate? Everything goes to hell in a hen basket right quick! Why? because I am a compulsive overeater and I want what “I” want! I can take back my will very quickly because I am who I am… I am an addict. I like the easier softer way!
The first Step is “I am powerless”.
Until I conceded to my innermost self that I was a true compulsive overeater, nothing was going to change… this is the first Step in my recovery. The delusion that I am like others has to be smashed. I will always be a compulsive overeater. In my head, I can tell myself a whole pile of lies and bullshit to get what I want. That is why I need to daily connect with my Higher Power who does for me what I can’t do; which is just about everything, because I am powerless over everything in my life.
If I don’t take action and DO, nothing changes.
So as a part of Step 11 “prayer and meditation”. Do I really know how to meditate? The old me of feeling doubtful or filled with perfection, I would end up doing nothing in fear of doing something wrong. That old way of thinking sabotages me. How bad do I want recovery? DO IT!! It doesn’t matter HOW, Just DO IT!!
In taking action, I learn. There no wrong or right way to meditate. In awareness, I am accepting of myself to take action and DO IT. This is how change can happen and new habits form. A relationship with my Higher Power grows.
In facing who I am, I face the very things that kept me in my disease and gives me an opportunity to change and be closer to my Higher Power who is all powerful in my life.
It is true, the only wrong way to meditate is to not do it!
